Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 11, 2026
This policy explains how UUIDE ("we", "us") handles and protects your personal information when you use our website, desktop app, mobile app and related online services, and the rights you have. One core fact first: UUIDE is local-first desktop software that does not depend on UUIDE servers — the data produced by your document work stays on your own device by default.
This English version is provided for your convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the Chinese version prevails.
01Overview & Scope
UUIDE is built on a local-first architecture: documents, projects and settings are stored on your own device, and the core features run entirely on your machine. The online services we offer (account, real-time chat, the official publishing channel, skill and template distribution) are optional extras for registered users — not online services offered to the general public. Without registering, signing in, or even without any network connection, UUIDE's document capabilities remain fully usable.
This policy applies to:
- the UUIDE desktop app (macOS / Windows);
- the UUIDE mobile app (Android);
- the UUIDE website (www.uuide.com) and its skills / template pages;
- UUIDE account, real-time chat and file upload services.
02Local First: Fully Works Offline
The following capabilities are completed entirely on your device and send no data to any server — document creation works in full even when you are offline and not a single byte passes through our servers:
- creating, editing, formatting, saving, renaming and deleting documents;
- PDF and image export (rendering and conversion happen on your machine);
- speech-to-text (offline inference on your machine; audio never leaves the device);
- project and file management (deletions go to the system trash and can be recovered);
- undo history and version snapshot recovery.
Your documents, projects, media, skills and app settings (including any AI provider endpoint and API key you configure yourself) are stored on your device's local disk — never uploaded, synced or backed up to our servers.
03AI Features & Model Access
AI features are triggered only when you invoke them, and how they are accessed is your choice:
- Your own provider (recommended): any OpenAI-compatible service — enter the endpoint and API key. Requests go directly from your device to the provider you configured; UUIDE servers neither handle nor store them. The API key is stored encrypted on your machine and never uploaded;
- Official free quota (optional): claimed with an account; requests are forwarded through official credentials to the corresponding model provider.
If you do not use the official service — or configure no model at all — AI features are unavailable, but document creation is entirely unaffected. Third-party model providers process relevant content under their own privacy policies, which you should review before use.
04Optional Online Services
Online services — account, real-time chat, the official publishing channel, skill and template distribution, and mobile pairing transfers — are provided to registered users on demand and activate only through your explicit actions (capabilities such as upload and chat are off by default and must be enabled by an administrator). They are not prerequisites for the product: the core document capabilities of the UUIDE desktop app do not depend on UUIDE servers. The information handling described in this and the following chapters (6–11) occurs only when you actually use these online services.
05Website & Analytics
- the website (www.uuide.com) uses a self-hosted analytics service for aggregate page-view counts only — no tracking or advertising cookies, no cross-site behavioural profiling;
- the desktop and mobile apps contain no analytics, telemetry or tracking code — we collect zero behavioural data inside the apps;
- browser local storage holds only your theme preference (
uuide-theme), which you can clear at any time without affecting usage.
06Information We Process
6.1 Account information
Registration requires an email address (used for verification codes, sign-in and account notices); when using chat you may choose a nickname. Sign-in credentials (access and refresh tokens) are stored server-side only as hashed digests.
6.2 Chat messages
Chat messages are relayed through our server to session members; the server keeps a relay cache of no more than 24 hours for offline redelivery and does not use it as long-term storage. Your full chat history lives in the local database on your device, under your control.
6.3 Content you upload
Documents and media files that you actively submit through upload / publishing features are stored in object storage, used solely to produce access links and for other purposes you authorize.
6.4 AI service credentials
When you use officially provided AI credits, we issue, manage and reset the corresponding AI service credentials based on your account email.
6.5 Service logs
To keep the service stable and secure, our servers record the operational logs and metrics necessary to do so (such as IP address, timestamps, request volume and error details), used only for operations, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
07How We Use Information
We process personal information only to:
- provide and maintain the declared features — account, chat, upload, skill distribution and AI credits;
- verify identity, prevent abuse and protect the security of the service;
- operate, monitor and troubleshoot the service.
We will not use your personal information for purposes not described in this policy, and we do not sell personal information.
08Storage & Security
- Local first: data stays on your device by default, minimising what the server ever sees;
- Key encryption: sensitive credentials you configure, such as AI API keys, are stored encrypted on your machine;
- Encryption in transit: communication between clients and servers uses TLS;
- Credential protection: only token hashes are stored server-side; plaintext tokens are never persisted;
- Least privilege: capabilities such as upload and chat are disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled by the account holder.
09Sharing & Transfer
Except in the following cases, we do not disclose your personal information to third parties:
- processors necessary to run the service (such as object storage and email delivery), limited to the minimum information required for that processing;
- when you configure your own AI provider, the relevant requests go directly to that provider, which processes them under its own policy;
- as required by law or by lawful orders of judicial or administrative authorities.
We do not sell or otherwise trade your personal information to any third party.
10Cookies & Local Storage
This website uses no tracking cookies and no advertising or third-party analytics services. The website and desktop app store only functional preferences locally (interface language, light / dark theme). You can clear them at any time in your browser or app settings without affecting normal use.
11Retention & Deletion
- Chat relay cache: cleared automatically within 24 hours;
- Account and server-side information: you can contact us at any time to delete your account and the server-side personal information associated with it;
- Local data: documents, projects and chat history on your device are entirely under your control — deleting the files or uninstalling the app removes them completely.
12Children
Our products and services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a minor has used account services without a guardian's consent, we will take steps to delete the relevant information.
13Your Rights
With respect to your personal information, you may exercise the following rights via support@uuide.com:
- access and query;
- obtain a copy;
- correct and supplement;
- delete;
- withdraw consent;
- delete your account;
- request an explanation of how your personal information is processed.
We will respond within a reasonable period after identity verification. Nothing in this policy limits any other rights you have under applicable law.
14Server Location & Cross-Border
Our online services are operated within the People's Republic of China. When you configure an overseas AI provider, the relevant requests go directly to that provider and the destination of the data is determined by the provider you choose. If you access our online services from outside China, your information will be transferred to and processed on servers located in China.
15Changes & Contact
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be published on this page with a new "Effective date", and material changes will be announced through the website or in-app notices. For any questions, requests or complaints regarding privacy, contact support@uuide.com.
